Greetings to the entire Legion Family,
A lot has happened here at Post 215 since the last issue of this newsletter. Just to fill you in a little: Commander Jim Trafford and Finance Officer Monte Powell resigned at the February meeting. Also resigning was John Yates, Judge Advocate. Larry Trowbridge had resigned and transferred his membership to Churubusco Post 257 earlier in the year. Our By- Laws require that nominations be made to fill vacant elected offices when the vacancy occurs and the election be held at the next regular meeting of the Post.
I was nominated to serve as Commander and Rick Seibert was nominated to serve as Finance Officer at the February meeting. We were unanimously elected to the offices at the regular membership meeting in March. We will serve in these capacities until June 1, when newly elected officers will take charge.
I have appointed Jim Fisel to serve as Judge Advocate; and Cindy Miller to serve as Membership Chairman until June 1.
I want to thank everyone that has stepped up to pledge their support and assistance to the Post during this time of transition. The outpouring of support has been somewhat overwhelming.
Now to move forward: The slate of officers for next year has been completed with a second round of nominations having been conducted at the April 23 regular meeting of the Post. Nominations of elected officers are as follows:
Commander, Rick Seibert;
First Vice Commander,Dave Atwater;
Second Vice Commander, Angela Raatz;
Finance Officer, Andy Marshall;
Adjutant, Allen Connelly; and
Executive Board Member, Larry Schlabach.
Election of officers will be conducted at the May 28 meeting. I am asking that everyone get behind and support the new officers this coming year. Please consider attending the regular membership meetings held the fourth Tuesday of each month.
A large number of events and activities can be found on the calendar. Also, please check the website for events and announcements. lagrangepost215.org
