Fellow veterans,
Welcome to a new year with new officers. I’d like to introduce myself, I am Rick Seibert, the new commander. Dave Atwater and Angela Raatz are the vice commanders. Andy Marshall is the finance officer, Allen Connelly will continue as adjutant. Larry Schlabach, Jim Fisel, Cindy Miller join us on the executive committee.
I would encourage all the veterans to come out for the meetings, which happen the fourth Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. This is your Post, you are the reason the Post is here. We offer Friday night meals including the best broasted chicken in Northern Indiana. Also, steaks, pork chops, chicken strips, and shrimp provided by the Sons of the American Legion. Also, some finger licking ribs provided by the Riders. We also have daily lunch specials the kitchen makes that we try to keep under $10.
We have some big plans for this coming year; repairing the cracks in the parking lot and complete resealing, including new parking lines. The reupholstering of the seats on all the bar stools has already begun, and the feedback is very favorable. We are getting quotes on replacing the carpet in the dining
room, lobby and bar room.
These improvements are going to be costly, but a huge thanks to the S.A.L. for a very generous donation towards the parking lot refinishing. You can all help by patronizing the club. Come out and meet fellow veterans, volunteer at a function or enjoy one of our Friday night meals and entertainment.
