I hope everyone is enjoying their summer! School is back in session so be on the watch for the school buses and kids going and coming from school.
I would like to thank the SAL and Auxiliary for the huge effort they put in for the Casino Night, August 10. Specifically, Steve Bowen for organizing the event and Dawn Miller for all her work with the silent auction. I thought it was a very successful night but could have been better if more veterans could have participated in the selling of tickets and just coming out for the fun. The proceeds will go to building and grounds improvements.
Kyle Olinger has decided to step down as Kitchen Manager after several years of dedicated service to the post. He had done an excellent job keeping things going, his service will always be much appreciated. Thank you, Kyle! Brenda Williams has been hired as the new Kitchen Manager and is working with Kyle for a couple weeks to get familiar with the ordering and other duties of that position. Please welcome her to her new position.
For all of us out there with drink tokens, yellow, green, grey, orange, and any other colors that have been used in the past are being replaced with a wooden one manufactured right here in LaGrange. The new tokens will be for a $3.00 drink. If the token is for a $2.50 beer you won’t be getting any change back. If the token is for a beer or drink costing more than $3.00 the difference will have to be made up. This is being done to help us control costs a little better. All old tokens will expire on November 1, 2024.
We have a Spreuer Jet Ski trailer donated to the Legion for a raffle. Tickets will be $5.00 each. Tickets will go on sale after we get them, and the drawing day will be determined at the time. So, come on in and see the trailer and purchase a ticket.
The parking lot repair and resealing has been approved by the Executive Board and will begin August 22 for the first half and August 24 for the second half. Please do not drive on the blocked off portion of the lot during this time. This should really help extend the life of the parking lot.
Just a reminder that we have some great Friday dinners put on by the Legion and the SAL members. We also have some tasty lunch specials every day. We try to hold the lunch specials down to $7.00 or $8.00. The daily specials can be seen on the Auxiliary Facebook page, soon to be added to our website, where all the Post news can be found. Just google lagrangepost215.org.
