Hello Legion Family!

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers, staff, members, and community who come together for each other and all the fundraisers and benefits we host. We raised a generous amount to help out a local cancer survivor who continues to battle after 23 years of many types of cancers. He is currently fighting head and neck, along with cancer being in other places as well. Donna Fair, Pat’s mother, is an active Auxiliary member, and Pat is an active SAL member. They help with dinners and activities quite frequently. The family has never asked for any help with their situation from the Legion. We offered to help them. Pat is a walking miracle! So, to all of those who helped make this happen for Patrick Fair, thank you! If you know someone who needs help and is an American Legion member here in LaGrange, suffering from cancer and overwhelming bills, I would love for you to reach out to us and let us know. Our Legion family has done these fundraisers once a year. We are here to help! Our American Legion Riders started this fundraiser for our beloved and dearly missed Alex (Axle) Oakley. To this day, his wife Katrina Oakley has helped participate in the events for all other families. Thank you Kat! Thank you ALR!

If you have not yet paid your 2025 dues, please consider doing this as soon as possible. Your 2024 cards expire December 31. We have a busy calendar for the next couple months! So please pay attention to your mailed calendar copy or our Facebook pages, or most importantly our website, https://lagrangepost215.org, for all events and updates with Post 215.

Watch for Hubie Ashcraft in November, as well as a Feather Party the same night!

We will be putting out our Kid’s Christmas Party sign-up forms in November as well. This year will be a little different than past years with some added knowledge of what the American Legion represents for the children to understand the meaning of why we are there and who to thank for our existence and freedom.

Our Children’s Christmas Party will be Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. Sign up forms will be available by Nov. 1 at the Post.

I want to remind parents and grandparents that all of the workers for these events are ALWAYS volunteers doing the very best they can to provide these events for the kids. So, please be kind and understand that all of the work put into these events are by people who come together and donate their time, money, and efforts for the children. Please remember what the true meaning of Christmas is about. This is the time of year when we should be thankful and appreciative of the people in our lives and not be focused on the material things. Be thankful for each other. Be kind. It costs nothing to be a kind and caring person. Let’s teach our kids this way of life.

A quick reminder to please get your 2025 dues paid before 12/31/2025. It is best to pay directly at the Post.
