Greetings All,
As winter approaches, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for a wonderful 2024. We have had a very eventful few months. Let me first start by saying thank you for a great week at Corn School. It was a beautiful week for it. We ended up selling out eight cases of pork burgers.
We would like to thank Dawn Miller for organizing our first Legion Bus Crawl. Look out for an October 2025 trip being planned now. With the Shriner’s trip in March, I’m sure she will be around soon with the sign up sheet for that. We were able to raise $600 for the Legion maintenance fund. A huge thank you to the Bristol, Ligonier, Albion, Rome City, and our home Post 215.
We recently had our 3rd Annual Cancer Benefit, this one for Pat Fair. We raised over $8,000 in four hours. It was a wonderful turnout for both Pat and his family, along with our own Legion Family. We could not have done it without the wonderful volunteers from the SAL, Auxiliary, Riders and Legion members.
Upcoming SAL events coming up in November and December. We will be having our famous “Feather Party” November 8. Our entertainment that night will be none other than the Hubie Ashcraft Band performing from 8-11. After discussion with members, we have decided to make a contribution to the Marshall North Carolina Police and Fire Department who were devastated from the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. For the event, we are requesting a $5.00 cover charge or a non perishable item to be donated. Please thank Mack Grobis for helping us get in touch with this community in need.
In December, we will be having “The Haggens” performing December 13, from 7-10 p.m.
Some things to keep an eye out for in 2025: We will be having our 3rd Annual Second Amendment Night. If you are wanting to be a table sponsor, please contact Austin or myself. We would be happy to make that happen. This past one was a big success and hoping to outdo ourselves next year.
SAL breakfasts will be starting again. Also, please remember that membership is due! The last day is December 31 and it will be here before you know it. Bartenders will not serve you if you have an expired card. Please drop off your dues at the Bar.
Thanks everyone again for a wonderful 2024 and praying for a better 2025. For God and Country.
—Brandon Garrison, SAL Commander
