Volunteer, according to Webster’s dictionary, “A person who freely offers to take part in an enterprise or undertake a task.” As a veteran we know good and well what it means to volunteer for service to our country. Some of us were asked to volunteer, the draft, and others enlisted of our own free will. Both served a purpose, either in a combat situation or in a support position. Here at Post 215 we rely on volunteers quite a bit. Helping out in the kitchen, picking up plates or delivering food to customers on Friday night dinners. Also selling tickets for 50-50 drawings or tip boards for various items. All of the members of our Post 215 have pitched in and made some real success with events held at the Post. They’re too numerous to name in this newsletter, but I have to send a heartfelt thanks to the Auxiliary, the Legion Riders and the Sons of the American Legion and of course the Veterans for all they have done in the past year to meet our goals here at the Legion. A big thank you to the ladies that trimmed up the bushes and those who helped pull the weeds around the post. Some of the events have contributed to the building fund which will keep our Legion up and running for the next generation.

To show our appreciation to all the volunteers we are going to have a hog roast on August 16. It will be for members and their families only, but it’s to pay tribute to the volunteers.

July 4th is upon us, The Birth of our Nation! We are still planning on having on having the Chicken Dinner and entertainment that evening.

We still need veterans to attend our meetings the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m., and if possible, please help us all out by volunteering when you have some free time.

—Rick Seibert, Commander Post 215.
